Toshiba Canivo Flex 4TB
I bought a Toshiba Canivo Flex 4TB, costing $159, a plain vanilla external hard disk pre-formatted using exFat and is not bundled with any backup utility software. It come with 3-year warranty.
According to Techradar, the performance is as follows
When it comes to sheer performance, the Canvio Flex performed in line with the rest of the competition, including the older Toshiba Canvio drives. It reached about 150MBps on average, on read/write speeds across our suite of benchmarks which is more than decent but still around a third compared to the slowest external solid state drives.
A typical 7200 RPM HDD will deliver a read/write speed of 80-160MB/s. On the other hand, a typical SSD will deliver read/write speed of between 200 MB/s to 550 MB/s.
Samsung 860 EVO 4TB as of 2021-05-13, with a 5-year warranty, is selling for around $850 with
- Maximum Write Speed: Up to 520 MB/s
- Maximum Read Speed: Up to 550 MB/s
So, Toshiba Canivo Flex is 5.3X more expensive but Samsung 860 EVO is 3.4~3.6X faster, 1.6X longer warranty period.
