How to Fix Samsung Smart Switch – Ordinal 12148 Not Found

For Samsung phone like Note 8, user can install Samsung Smart Switch to sync apps like Microsoft Outlook etc between the phone and the desktop.  However, sometimes, the Smart Switch would not work!

I tried to install Samsung Smart Switch into Windows 8.1, I experienced a message says “Smart_Switch_pc_setup.exe – Ordinal Not Found”.

To resolve this, I gathered from internet and thought that what I need is to download the Microsoft Visual C++.  To be surprised, I still receive the same message.

I tried to install on Windows 10.  I was also not able to install.  It says side-by-side configuration problem.

I called Samsung and it could not help also.

Then on 2017-10-07, I received a call from Samsung and they told me they will send me some files to fix for Windows 8.1.  For Windows 10, they will have to work with Microsoft as it is new.  They believe it should be resolve by end of the year.

On 2017-11-12, Samsung called and told me to install Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package and the Feature package x86 (not x64 bit).  After installed that, the problem is solved.

I tried the x64 bit one, it does not work.  Only the x86 will work.
